What is a half teeth airsoft piston for?

You may wonder what an airsoft half teeth piston is for. A half teeth piston is often used with helical gear sets. However, this is not always the case.

Some flat gear sets use half teeth pistons, and some helical gears use full teeth pistons as well. So, before choosing the piston to use with your gears, make sure you know which one to purchase.

You must use a half teeth piston when your sector gear teeth which mesh together with spur gear go out to far. If those sector gear teeth go out farther than the base of of the teeth that mesh together with the teeth of the piston, you need a half teeth piston. If you gear set does that be sure to purchase a half teeth piston and not a full teeth piston. Other wise you will strip your piston.
